The Compulsory Basic Training (CBT) is a one day training course designed for novices and something everyone must take to be able to ride a motorcycle safely on the road, or to go on to take a full motorcycle test.
*Please note you DO NOT need a theory test in order to do your CBT
The Direct Access Scheme (DAS) is designed for those who would like to get a full and unrestricted motorcycle licence. You need to be aged 24 or over, or have held an A2 motorcycle license for a minimum of two years.
In order to take a full motorcycle test you must first pass a theory test. The test takes about an hour and is made up of multiple choice questions and hazard perception clips.
Find out everything you need to know about the new test rules and what engine size and license category each test enables you to ride, and what different age groups can do.
